Full Job Description
SUMMARY

This position will have primary responsibility for leading Operational Excellence (Opex) initiatives to quantitatively and qualitatively improve costs, quality, efficiency and delivery.

Plans, develops, implements and manages processes, established in the Honickman Management Operating System (H-MOS), to support business in deploying operating model and achieving Opex objectives. Implements a sustainable system-wide approach to Opex, including standardized philosophy (HMOS), models, systems, training, tools and techniques. Collaborates with leadership team, user groups and a wide variety of internal and external constituencies to drive OPEX.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
  • Supports organization in achieving OPEX strategic goals by leading cross-functional teams through operational improvement initiatives resulting in improved efficiencies, quality standards and safety results leading to improved operational standardization and achievement of improvement/growth plans and strategies.
  • Implements strategies, as defined in the Manufacturing Play Book, to respond to internal and external performance drivers and challenges existing practices.
  • Assist teams in managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and implementing daily management to drive OPEX and enhance safety.
  • Develops and supports systems and executes strategies to implement a OPEX program and culture that delivers substantive productivity and/or profitability gains year-over-year.
  • Acts as an advisor to provide value-added collaboration with operational leaders to ensure prioritization of initiatives and identified solutions are in alignment with the overall objective and strategy of the organization.
  • Oversees cross functional OPEX projects to provide operational guidance, resourcing, and program/project management expertise.
  • Leads advanced process improvement activities through engagement of teams, subject matter experts, stakeholders and benchmarking.
  • Utilizes lean principles and systems thinking to identify complex interrelated processes that contribute to the success and failures of an organization.
  • Partners with local leadership team to identify best countermeasures and combined solutions to address root causes.
  • Provides advice and leadership in implementing action plans and development of sustainment/control plans for solutions.
  • Develops a training program to develop Manufacturing leaders OPEX knowledge and skill set.
  • Implements aforementioned training program and tracks progress
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability in solving complex problems and transforming results and process through the application of Lean techniques.
  • Broad understanding and history of building Safe practices into Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Specific experience in lean manufacturing environment, preferably within a food and beverage manufacturing facility.

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Food Safety and Safety Systems.
  • Ability to lead and manage continuous improvement projects and teams.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team to drive "OPEX" culture.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and similar applications.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage many projects at one time.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations or Business Management or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of Lean/CI/Opex experience with proven LEAN, continuous improvement, safety and quality principles.
  • Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the CI, Quality and Safety functions within this environment.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Green or Black Belt preferred
  • Knowledge of MiniTab would be a plus

Site-to-Site Travel Required

We offer a competitive salary of $150k-165K. Excellent benefits which include medical, dental and vision. Eligibility in benefit plans begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Six (6) days of sick leave; two (2) weeks of vacation accrued throughout the year; nine (9) Company Paid Holidays and a 401K Plan with employer match.
