Full Job Description
IU Health Medical Group South Region in Bloomington is seeking a medical oncologist to join our experienced team in southern Indiana. Enjoy working with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals with access to advanced technologies through robust ancillary services that provides you the tools needed for great patient care. Our Olcott Nurse Navigation team provides disease specific patient advocacy and family support along their journey which leads to a full list of support services through a partnership with Cancer Support Community - South Central Indiana. You can enjoy providing our patients with leading-edge cancer care with the convenience of being close to home. We also have exciting clinical research opportunities in the South Region, with a clinical research support team with 20 years of experience.

Bloomington Position Details:
  • Opportunity to work in the new IU Health Bloomington Hospital (opened in December 2021) at the Regional Academic Health Campus
  • Practice locations include primarily Bloomington, with 1 day of outreach in Bedford
  • Full-time employment opportunity
  • Monday - Friday
  • Call schedule: Every 6th weekend
  • 95% outpatient / 5% inpatient
  • Team: 9 physicians (Hem Onc & Rad Onc), 3 advanced practice providers.
  • Opportunity to teach medical students, if desired, with clinical faculty appointment at Indiana University School of Medicine - Bloomington Campus
  • Comprehensive accredited cancer center in: Commission on Cancer (COC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and American College of Radiology (ACR)

Healthcare System/Hospital Description

The new IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center, part of the Indiana University Health Medical Group, opened in December 2021. The facility offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.

At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
