Full Job Description
Okta Data Engineer

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Okta Data Engineer to join our team. This is a remote position.

As a critical partner in the national effort to ensure the defense and resilience of cyberspace, the Okta Data Engineer will be responsible for managing user identities, integrating diverse data sources, and overseeing authentication ecosystems. This role leverages expertise in Okta's Universal Directory, Active Directory, Red Hat LDAP, and database environments (SQL/Sybase) to ensure secure, seamless access management across the enterprise.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Advanced Federation & SSO: Execute hands-on integration of applications using SAML 2.0, OIDC, and OAuth 2.0 protocols within Okta to ensure secure, streamlined user access.
  • Legacy Application Delivery: Deploy and configure Okta Access Gateway (OAG) to provide secure, header-based authentication for on-premises and legacy web applications.
  • Access Control & Governance: Design, implement, and enforce granular User Access Controls, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/Adaptive MFA), and least-privilege authorization policies.
  • Unified Directory Management: Expertly manage and maintain user profiles, credentials, and custom schemas within the Okta Universal Directory (UD).
  • Data Integrity & Lifecycle Automation: Ensure high identity data accuracy by managing SCIM provisioning, HRIS integrations (e.g., Workday), and Active Directory/LDAP synchronizations.
  • Identity Security: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive identity data and PII, ensuring full alignment with modern Zero Trust architectural frameworks.
  • Tier 3 Troubleshooting & Support: Serve as the final escalation point to identify, root-cause, and resolve complex issues related to identity federation, provisioning failures, and authentication outages.


Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years' experience with Okta Universal Directory.
  • Experience deploying and managing Okta Access Gateway (OAG).
  • Experience in Okta Identity Management lifecycles.
  • Active professional certifications in Okta, Red Hat Linux, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Ability to work remotely while maintaining an Eastern Time Zone schedule.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong foundational knowledge of LDAP directory services.
  • Comprehensive background in Cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Experience in federal government contracting or DHS-specific environments.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen and be willing and able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD).


Physical Requirements:
  • The position is sedentary and office-based (remote). The role requires the ability to communicate daily with co-workers, management, and customers, which includes delivering professional presentations.


The projected compensation range for this position is $148,200.00-$263,000.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
