Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Reporting to the Inspector General, the OIG System Operations Administrator manages the office's IT infrastructure, network security, dedicated software systems, and technology assets. This role handles all systems administration and technology projects. This is a full-time, exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.

The OIG System Operations Administrator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Manages and administer all OIG systems and IT infrastructure:
    • Maintains and supports server infrastructure, local area network (LAN), G-Suite, website, and dedicated applications
    • Designs, implements, and monitors network security protocols, user access control rights, backup workflows, and disaster recovery strategies
    • Coordinates system maintenance schedules with the CPS wide area network (WAN)
  • Serves as the office-wide technical advisor and subject matter expert, providing digital guidance for routine reviews as well as large-scale and/or complex investigations
  • Leads the planning, implementation, and policy development for OIG technology projects, including recommending hardware/software purchases and establishing IT protocols
  • Trains and advises staff on the use of any office software and digital tools; Develops training materials
  • Coordinates with CPS ITS to establish appropriate OIG access to CPS databases and technology assets; Manages device management and asset compliance in collaboration with ITS; Serves as primary ITS contact for OIG systems and related agreements
  • Coordinates with CPS Procurement on procurement actions (E.g., submitting requisitions, sponsorships, purchasing, etc.); Acts as the OIG vendor liaison to ensure high-quality service and support
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of the annual budget
  • Other duties as assigned


In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the OIG System Operations Administrator must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university


Experience Required:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in systems administration, including network support and server management Information security experience
  • Experience coordinating technology projects and operations, including budgets and vendor management
  • Experience managing and supporting enterprise information systems
  • Experience supporting investigations preferred; Experience with digital forensics or e-discovery strongly preferred


Other Requirements:
  • Occasional work outside of regular business hours is required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to exercise considerable independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities; operate with minimal guidance and direction
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN concepts, network protocols, and the deployment, administration, and support of Windows, Apple, and Chromebook platforms
  • Thorough knowledge of G-Suite administration and Windows Server maintenance, including experience with permission delegation and user access controls
  • Technical proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network connectivity issues, including break-fix repairs and device re-imaging
  • Strong aptitude for learning enterprise SaaS platforms; ability to quickly gain proficiency with critical CPS and OIG systems (e.g., Aspen, Oracle, Kronos, and specialized case management software)
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly learn, relevant local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and institutional policies governing data privacy and compliance
  • Familiarity and experience using open source intelligence (OSINT) tools and social media monitoring
  • Familiarity with digital forensic principles, data preservation techniques, or chain of custody protocols
  • Refined judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines, while maintaining high levels of organization
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
