Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-day responsibilities of this position:- Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Ensure appropriate supervision and training occur for FWII students and volunteers.
- Evaluates patients' needs and administers therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as range of motion, strength, tolerance, coordination, behavioral management skills, social skills, and activities of daily living.
- Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Writes (or discusses) project/program plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s).
- Writes, implements, and provides documentation of individual client's treatment; maintains records to comply with federal requirements and writes reports indicative of progress or regression.
- Coordinates program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.
- Performs physical assessments of patients and/or residents; refers patients requiring further evaluation or treatment to a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician or other health care professional.
- Provides direct patient care in the clinical setting including: assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients; determines the degree of disabilities of the patients.
- Documents client/patient progress and revises treatment plans as required; completes administrative paperwork.
- Develops and implements treatment plans to help clients mobilize inner capacities and resources to improve social functioning.
QualificationsMinimum or "day-one" qualifications:- Licensure as Occupational Therapist in the State of Utah.
Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: (includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position)
- Evaluate information against a set of standards.
- Assess physical, mental, social or economic needs.
- Organize information in a clear and concise manner.
- Information and techniques needed to rehabilitate physical and mental ailments and to provide career guidance including alternative treatments, rehabilitation equipment and its proper use, and methods to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.
- Coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organization(s).
- Agency and/or organizational program(s)
- Supervise others by assigning/directing work; conducting employee evaluations, staff training and development, taking appropriate disciplinary/corrective actions, making hiring/termination recommendations, etc.
About the RoleOccupational Therapy practitioners work with patients throughout the lifespan in identifying functional barriers associated with challenges of mental illness and support in development of improved capacities to manage symptoms through occupational engagement. Staff use standardized assessments of cognition, sensory processing and modulation, and functional performance in addition to task analysis to inform treatment plans and provide social skills, sensory coping, and life skills training according to needs and level of functioning of the individual served.
