Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist II will report to the Clinical Supervisor, Occupational Therapy, and provide direct and indirect patient care services. They will work with diverse patient populations, primarily adults and geriatrics, and may also treat pediatric and adolescent patients. The therapist will perform occupational therapy evaluations, establish therapeutic goals, develop intervention plans, and administer direct patient care. They will maintain patient records, supervise support staff, and participate in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement and clinical education.
Responsibilities- Perform occupational therapy evaluations and administer various tests to determine patient limitations.
- Establish short and long-term therapeutic intervention goals in consultation with referring practitioners.
- Develop and implement therapeutic intervention plans, making adjustments as needed.
- Administer direct patient care using a range of occupational therapy techniques.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff and students.
- Complete discharge planning and maintain accurate patient care records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Participate in staff inservice education, orientation, and community programs.
- Contribute to departmental quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
- Represent the department professionally and participate in special projects.
Qualifications- Minimum of 12 months experience as a licensed therapist.
- Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to recognize signs of distress in patients.
- Possession of or eligibility for CPR certification.
- Basic computer skills for word processing and online communication.
- Good interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills.
- Flexibility to work at various UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Prior occupational therapy experience in an academic medical center is preferred.
- Experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team is an asset.
- Graduate degree or certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program is desirable.
Salary InformationThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
