Full Job Description
UNC Health's Pediatric team is seeking a dedicated Neonatal Occupational Therapist I to join our NICU care environment! This role follows a Tuesday-Saturday schedule with rotating holiday coverage, supporting high-acuity infants and families in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting. Paid NICU experience or intensive neonatal training, such as a fellowship or an equivalent advanced program is preferred.

Summary:

The Occupational Therapist I provides evidence-based evaluation, treatment interventions, and educational instruction to patients and caregivers with various diagnoses, disabilities, and impairments affecting client factors (body function and structures), behavior patterns/roles/habits, and occupational performance. The clinician provides student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participates in departmental and community continuing education and outreach.

Responsibilities:
1. Completes occupational therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines. Manage daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines.
2. Administers assessment tools or instruments to assist in establishing a plan of care and subsequent modifications and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
3. Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines.
4. Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts; Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner's performance.
5. Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in-services.

• Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one's weight; can engage in high-level problem-solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
