Role Summary

nuuly is looking for a Senior Merchandise and Inventory Planner who will own merchandise and inventory planning. This role will drive OTB, forecasting, receipt planning, markdown optimization, inventory health, and overall business performance while helping build and scale planning processes from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone energized by ambiguity and excited by the opportunity to build a business from zero with limited historical sales trends, established seasonality, or assortment frameworks. The ideal candidate can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a highly dynamic, evolving business.

Role Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Business Ownership:
  • Own end-to-end merchandise and inventory planning for accessory and add-on product offerings
  • Manage sales, demand, and inventory forecasts to support growth and profitability
  • Manage OTB, receipt flow, and inventory investments to support financial and inventory goals
  • Support strategies that drive customer conversion, basket economics, and incremental sales opportunities
  • Drive key business KPIs including sales, margin, turn, markdowns, in-stock, and productivity

Inventory & Business Management:
  • Develop inventory and receipt strategies to optimize inventory flow and customer experience
  • Identify risks and opportunities through reporting and analysis
  • Partner with Buying on assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies to support financial objectives
  • Manage markdown and sell-through strategies to support inventory health and profitability
  • Develop scalable processes, reporting, and tools to support future growth

Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Partner cross-functionally with Buying, Operations, Finance, and Leadership teams to drive execution and business strategies
  • Communicate business performance, recommendations, and strategic insights to leadership
  • Act as a trusted leader within the Planning organization
  • Influence cross-functional partners and help drive alignment in ambiguous and fast-changing environments


Role Qualifications

  • 5-7 years in Merchandise Planning and/or Inventory Planning
  • Experience managing OTB, forecasting, and inventory strategies in a retail or eCommerce environment
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in startup, high-growth, or rapidly evolving businesses
  • Experience building processes, frameworks, and inventory strategies
  • Understanding of customer conversion, basket economics, attachment behavior, and productivity drivers
  • Background in accessories, beauty, or adjacent product categories preferred
  • Energized by ambiguity and comfortable adapting quickly in evolving business environments
