Position Summary

The Manager, Nursing Services Student Programs provides operational leadership for Phoenix Children`s nursing student program, ensuring high-quality clinical learning experiences that support the development of the future nursing workforce while advancing the organization`s mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities. This position oversees the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of nursing student programs and academic partnerships, ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and affiliation agreement requirements. The manager leads the Nursing Services Student Program team and collaborates with academic institutions, nursing leaders, educators, and operational stakeholders to optimize student placement, clinical learning environments, and workforce pipeline initiatives.

Position Duties

  • Leads collaborations with other disciplines and departments as a change agent and acts as the primary liaison with academic affiliations to implement and evaluate the pediatric nursing cohort and blend pediatric focused academic experiences
  • Oversees and manages all nursing student clinical rotations, education affiliation agreements, and compliance requirements at Phoenix Children's in collaboration with nursing and affiliated academic organizations.
  • Engages in ongoing organizational endeavors which support the philosophy and values of Phoenix Children's, aligning with nursing model of care and professional development.
  • Serves as a resource, mentor and role model for nursing, hospital staff and community.
  • Leads, plans, implements, and evaluates learning opportunities based on evidence using a variety of teaching strategies.
  • Leadership & Personnel Management

    - Provides direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Nursing Services Student Program Specialist and Student Nurse Interns.

    - Establishes program priorities, assigns responsibilities, and monitors workload to ensure timely coordination of student placements, onboarding activities, and academic partnership support.

    - Recruits, orients, develops, and evaluates staff while fostering a culture of collaboration, customer service, innovation, and continuous improvement.

    - Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff performance and engagement.

    - Ensures efficient operations through effective resource management, workload balancing, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
