Job Title: Nursing Manager - Trauma ICU

The
Nursing Manager - Trauma ICU is responsible for overseeing the
clinical and administrative operations of the Trauma Intensive Care Unit in collaboration with the Unit Director.
This leadership role ensures the delivery of
high-quality, cost-effective patient care, while maintaining compliance with
hospital policies, State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission standards, and American Nurses Association (ANA) guidelines.
The Nurse Manager provides
clinical leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight, while maintaining
24-hour accountability for the unit's performance, staffing, and patient care continuity.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership- Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and role model for nursing staff.
- Support the development of clinical and leadership competencies among assistant nurse managers and nursing staff.
- Promote best practices in trauma critical care nursing.
Patient Care & Quality Improvement- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care consistent with hospital standards.
- Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
- Monitor and improve patient safety, clinical performance, and care delivery processes.
Operational Management- Assist in managing the administrative and operational functions of the Trauma ICU.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of resource consumption and cost-effective care management.
Education & Staff Development- Provide education, in-service training, and professional development programs for nursing staff.
- Coordinate new employee orientation and unit-specific training.
- Support ongoing competency development and clinical training.
Compliance & Regulatory Standards- Ensure adherence to:
- Hospital policies and procedures
- Joint Commission standards
- State and federal healthcare regulations
- ANA ethical and professional standards
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality policies.
Leadership Representation- Represent the Unit Director during committee participation and hospital initiatives when required.
- Participate in hospital leadership meetings and operational planning.
Emergency Preparedness- Fulfill responsibilities related to the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) during emergencies.
- Maintain knowledge of hospital emergency codes and response procedures.
Required QualificationsMinimum: Bachelor's Degree in
Nursing or related fieldPreferred:- Master's Degree in:
- Nursing
- Healthcare Management
- Nursing Education
- Related field
Experience- Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical specialty area (preferably critical care or trauma ICU)
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
- Working knowledge of:
- Quality Improvement processes
- Joint Commission standards
- Hospital operations and patient care management
Required Licensure & Certifications- Registered Nurse (RN) License - State of Florida
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification required for Critical Care Nurse Managers
