Description of Work
The primary purpose of the Nurse Supervisor is to provide professional nursing service to JFK-ADATC patients. The NS is an integral part of the Nursing Department and assumes the responsibility for the nursing needs of the patients across an entire shift. Also has monthly on call responsibility for providing clinical and administrative leadership across the facility while on call and during non-business hours. This position is directly accountable to the Director of Nursing for all work performed. Stays within the guidelines of the NC Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for nurses, Medical and Nursing Policy and Procedures and the regulations and standards set forth buy the State, CMS and JCAHO. The NS administratively and clinically supervises nursing staff personnel on their assigned shift. They must work with management to oversee the daily functioning of the facility but assuring adequate staffing coverage and directing staff as they perform their duties.

Recruitment Range: $71,698 to 118.304

  • Demonstrated knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications
  • Proficiency in leading a team; skilled in delegation and making assignments
  • Proficiency to guide and counsel subordinate staff and provide feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff on care rendered to patients
  • Effectively communicate information to patients, families, and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing or by demonstration
  • Effectively teaching nursing staff through orientation and on the job training


This position will work 12-hour days, (6:45pm-7:15am) and every other weekend, some holidays

About the Facility:
JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
