Responsibilities

This position will float to locations across the Bronx and upper Manhattan.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is identified as an advanced-level registered nurse that is licensed as a practitioner, who supports and works in conjunction with physicians to enhance patient care. Supports smooth back-office operations at centers by providing nursing and medical services, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patient's care within legal scope of responsibility. Emphasizes and counsels in prevention, wellness, and care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Order and/or administer injections, and administer medications within scope of practice.
  • Oversee IVs and Injections that are being provided for any and all contrast exams.
  • Monitor and administer medications for CCTA examinations within scope of practice.
  • Review and communicate lab and diagnostic procedure results to referring physicians (and patients when appropriate and within the scope of their role).
  • Oversee and maintain all crash carts, emergency kits and all emergency equipment.
  • Assist patients when needed with additional lift support (Hoyer lift, wheelchair, stretchers).
  • Write and refill prescriptions, as well as educate patients in monitoring and managing medication side effects.
  • Assist physicians and patients during biopsy procedures.
  • Assist with injured patients, provide preliminary exam, measure and track vital signs, and appropriately respond to abnormal vital signs in the event of reaction/accident/injury at the center.
  • Maintain proper documentation (including but not limited to writing orders, follow-up notes, and letters of medical necessity), dictate patient histories and physicals, and complete all appropriate medical record documentation requirements associated with the patient's exam at the time of the exam or at the end of the work shift as designated by site protocol.
  • Examine and evaluate patients, coordinate and direct care with other health care team members, as well as support and work in conjunction with physicians to enhance patient care while following site policies and within legal scope of responsibility.
  • Counsel and provide education to patient and family in wellness, care, prevention, and in coping with altered state of health.
  • Promote and provide early intervention, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and exercises universal precautions when dealing with all patients, exams, and procedures.
  • Assist in calming anxious or upset patients, and address concerns about procedure/process of treatment.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Maintain current and appropriate state licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must have current and valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a recognized national association or organization, as well as a valid and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number and BLS certification.
  • Advanced degree (Master's degree, Post-Master's certificate/degree, or Doctoral degree) from an accredited academic NP program that encompasses a nationally recognized status that meets the State's Board Standards is required.
  • Maintain appropriate continuing education and licensing in accordance with company and state legal requirements.
  • Possession and utilization of good customer service skills, strong public relations skills, and excellent written and verbal communications skills are necessary.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, have clerical skills, and have the ability to interact effectively with doctors, referring doctors and staff, patients, vendors, peers, staff and management.

Pay Range: $70.00 - $80.00/hr
