Position Summary:
We are looking for an Advanced Practice Nurse to work within our Float Pool. The Role requires integration of knowledge, research, and experience to promote excellence in patient care and improve outcomes. Communicates and collaborates clearly and concisely with the health care team; appropriately consult and utilize resources to meet the patient's needs; and actively participate in patient discharge planning, Requires flexibility, and excellent clinical, organizational and communication skills.

Advanced practice role, responsible for collaborative management of patients within inpatient medical surgical, critical care, or hybrid (ambulatory and inpatient medical/surgical) care neighborhoods. Role requires integration of knowledge, research, and experience to promote excellence in patient care and improve outcomes. Communicates and collaborates clearly and concisely with the health care team; appropriately consult and utilize resources to meet the patient's needs; and actively participate in patient discharge planning, Requires flexibility, and excellent clinical, organizational and communication skills.

Float APRN's will be eligible for an $10/hour specialty differential.
This role offers a competitive sign-on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, based on your experience. (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years).


Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing a complete history and physical exam and interprets findings.
  • Diagnosing and managing common clinical problems of the identified patient population.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment plan in an interdisciplinary manner.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions necessary to augment the patient's physical findings and treatment plan. Communicating these findings to the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Participating in discharge planning with the health care team.
  • Writing orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient's medical record. Creating patient discharge summaries and communicating to the primary care providers.
  • Participating in the daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary conferences, and teaching activities of the service.
  • Communicating the patient's condition and plan of care to the patient and family. Engaging in health teaching and counseling with the patient and their family in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Performing selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Participating in formal and informal teaching activities with staff nurses, physicians, interns and residents, and other members of the health care team.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with the health care team and appropriately consulting and utilizing resources to meet the patient's needs.
  • Maintaining clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-evaluation.
  • Working 36 hours per week with 50% day/night rotation and every third weekend. Float APRNs will not be required to work holidays.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing
Experience:
  • 1-3 years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience preferred
Licensure/ Certifications:
  • A current Massachusetts NP license
  • Certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner
