Position Highlights

The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Nurse Practitioner. This position is responsible for working with the Campus Health Service's (CHS) Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to provide primary care to eligible University of Arizona students and staff. This position will be responsible for providing quality medical care, within the scope of their licensure, to all clients of the CHS' Primary Care and Urgent Care clinics.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conducts medicalexaminations, diagnose, prescribe, and treats CHS patients while practicingwithin clinical skills and competencies.
  • Makes patientreferrals for further diagnosis and testing.
  • Consults withother CHS healthcare providers as needed.
  • Provides technical directions for CHS nurses and medical assistants.
  • Prescribes anddispenses drugs and devices in accordance with established regulations.
  • Providestechnical direction to RN's, College of Nursing students, College of Medicineresidents, intern physicians, and medical students.
  • Cooperativeinteraction with other clinical staff and support staff.
  • Provides teaching and mentoring opportunities for UA or affiliated health care trainees.
  • Involvement incommittees and teams as appropriate.
  • Additionalduties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities
  • Good oral andwritten communication skills, including with all levels of the institution.
  • Progressiveleadership skills with the ability to develop, guide, motivate, and coachothers.
  • Advancedknowledge of skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention,physical and psychosocial assessment and management of health and illnessapplicable to the care of college students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degreefrom an approved school of nursing and completion of an approved adult offamily practice Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Minimum of fiveyears of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education andwork experience.
  • Boardeligibility or certification in practice specialty.
  • Licensed topractice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona or will be by date ofhire.
  • Must have acurrent DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
  • Arizonaprescriptive privileges required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in college health.
  • Experience in wound care, simple surgical procedures, for example suturing.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system.
