We are currently looking for a
Nurse Practitioner to join the
Division of Haematology Oncology, BMT Program to provide leadership and promote excellence in family-centred nursing care through the five main role components of expert practice, education, consultation, research and leader/change agent.
Here's What You'll Get To Do- Provides comprehensive health care and coordination for a diverse group of patients who are being considered and planned for blood or marrow transplant or cellular therapy ' as the newest member of the BMT/CT NP team, competency development is focused first on acute, inpatient care of patients on 8B, building to some exposure to outpatient care and coordination over time.
- Is a member of the collaborative multi-disciplinary health care team, and promotes care coordination and continuity for patients and families followed by the BMT/CT team
- Integrate research into practice; opportunity to participate in leading- and cutting-edge research in the field of cellular and gene therapies ' contributing to the SickKids vision of Precision Child Health
- Receive mentorship, education and support from leading experts in pediatric BMT and Cellular Therapy
- Build expertise in the provision of inpatient care for BMT and Cellular Therapy recipients
- Coordinate the interdisciplinary plan of care for transplant recipients, donors
- Integrate nursing and medical skills and knowledge within a broad scope of advanced nursing practice
- Assume a leadership role in influencing clinical nursing practice and the provision of care
- Create, utilize and/or disseminate new knowledge
- Coordinate and guide patients and families through the treatment course; provide anticipatory guidance on pre- and post-transplant/cellular therapy care
- Identify and link to services and resources in community, collaborate with referral centres from across Ontario and other provinces
Here's What You'll NeedEssential Requirements- Completion of a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario within the RN (Extended Class) in good standing
- 3 - 5 years of clinical nursing experience in paediatrics
- Previous experience in a leadership role providing mentorship and educational support, promoting continuous quality improvement and patient/team safety
- Ability to act as a change agent, and foster teamwork and consensus
- Innovative critical thinking with excellent communication, public speaking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application
- Commitment to Patient and Staff Safety
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and experience advancing EDI objectives
Assets - Experience in Hematology/Oncology, BMT, chemotherapy administration and palliative care
Employment Type- Full Time (37.5 hours per week) ' 10-hour shifts for inpatient unit coverage; 8- or 10-hour shifts if outpatient coverage is required, dependent upon program requirements
- 12-month contract (October 2026-October 2027)
- 8B inpatient unit and BMT/CT Clinic outpatient program rotation as needed
