As the Emergency Room Nurse Manager at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, you will lead a high-volume, dynamic environment that features a comprehensive Level II Trauma Center, a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Center, and Level III emergency care. To support these exceptional emergency services, our department is fully integrated with board-certified trauma surgeons, specialized neurosurgeons, trauma-trained staff, three designated trauma rooms, an on-site critical care unit, and a dedicated operating room specifically for trauma surgery. This service line also includes management and coordination support for several regional, full-service freestanding departments, including HCA Houston ER 24/7 locations in Alvin, Friendswood, Pearland, and Texas City, which provide direct admission pathways to our main acute care facility. Demonstrating an unyielding commitment to clinical excellence, our emergency care and closely integrated service lines have achieved numerous prestigious awards, including being named an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI by the American College of Cardiology, receiving the Critical Care Excellence Award™ from Healthgrades, and earning Healthgrades Five-Star ratings for the treatment of respiratory failure, sepsis, heart attacks, and diabetic emergencies.
Job Summary and Qualifications


As a Nurse Manager RN - ICU Critical Care, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn -whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

What you will do in this role:

  • Upholds Organizational Alignment: Drives NCMC mission, nursing standards, patient satisfaction, and Studer Concepts across assigned units.
  • Executes Strategic Goal-Setting: Develops four unit-specific goals aligned with the organization and documents progress for leadership.
  • Empowers Staff Autonomy: Encourages frontline staff to develop evidence-based practices and participate actively in department councils.
  • Maintains Consistent Communication: Conducts ten monthly staff meetings annually and shares detailed updates via minutes and memos.
  • Optimizes Fiscal Resources: Prepares and manages expense, personnel, capital, and supply budgets using advanced information systems.
  • Balances Workforce Staffing: Controls overtime, PTO, and Nursing Hours per Patient Day to deliver cost-efficient, quality care.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • 5 years of ER experience highly desired
  • 1 year of previous Leadership experience in a hospital/healthcare environment required.
