We are currently seeking a Nurse Manager to lead and support clinical operations across the PACU at Massachusetts General Hospital, The Post
Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a dynamic environment comprised of seven critical care areas dedicated to the care of adult and pediatric patients before and immediately following surgery or procedures requiring anesthesia. The unit operates 24 hours a day with dedicated Anesthesia and Nurse Practitioner coverage, supporting a high standard of patient care across all phases of recovery.
This is a full time evening position (4 10 hour shifts) for a highly motivated nursing professional. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Summary
Directs, plans and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering quality patient care. May provide direct patient care.
Essential Functions
Ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff onboarding, training, and education.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback for staff.
Ensures a positive work environment that is safe for patients, visitors and staff.
Coordinating unit activities with other hospital departments of the hospital
Develops and implements staffing plans.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
Does this position require Patient Care (indirect/direct)? Yes
Ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- experience as RN in PACU, ICU or ED preferred
- experience in leadership preferred
Education
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing required or Master's Degree Nursing preferred
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
Licenses and Credentials
- Registered Nurse RN - MA license required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS Certification] preferred
- Basic Life Support [BLS] Certificate preferred
Experience
- Nursing experience 2-3 years required and
- Nursing leadership experience 1-2 years preferred

- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Strong commitment to clinical excellence.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
