Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager is part of the nursing leadership team and manages daily operations for their nurses and medical assistants, reporting to the regional director of nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees front-line nursing, medical assistant, phlebotomy, and technician staff within the designated service line, including providing after-hours on-call support as needed. Addresses client concerns by assigning appropriate interventions.
  • Participates in the recruitment and hiring process for all relevant departmental staff roles, ensuring alignment with department requirements. Facilitates or delegates comprehensive onboarding and training for new employees.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff to address departmental objectives and communication updates, utilizing in-person or video conferencing methods. Performs routine check-ins and manages annual performance evaluations for supervised personnel.
  • Serves as a point of contact for clients regarding medication inquiries and needs; initiates refill requests to providers following standard operating procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between administrative leadership and supervised teams, collaborating with the Assistant Director and Director of Nursing to monitor, evaluate, and enhance workflow processes.
  • Leads ongoing team development initiatives and coordinates training activities.
  • Conducts chart audits for supervised staff as directed. Compiles monthly data summaries of all interventions conducted by supervised staff.
  • Manages procurement of medical supplies for the service line as necessary.
  • Prepares counseling memoranda and corrective action plans for staff with input from the Assistant Director, Director of Nursing, and HR.
  • Provides timely feedback to support staff development and reports on workflow documentation issues as needed. Monitors clinical interventions and escalates concerns to leadership promptly.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Valid licensure as a licensed, practical or registered nurse; one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Secures client information and maintains confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records. Knowledge and implementation of safeguarding protected health information by methods such as maintaining private usernames and passwords, encryption, and other methods as indicated.
  • Ability to read & interpret documents such as lab results, notes & documents within an electronic health record, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports & correspondence clearly & effectively via multiple methods, in various platforms. Communicates effectively & therapeutically to clients, family members, employees, & other contacts within the community in-person, via telephone, and via video conferencing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, & divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to problem solve several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Shall be able to follow direction and accept supervision.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and sometimes sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to be able to walk and sometimes run up and down stairs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
