Nurse Educator Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized clinical expertise and skill, acting as a support person and role model for the nursing staff.
- Serves as a clinical resource to staff in the application of relevant research findings to practice
- Assess clinical skills and learning needs of the nursing staff.
- Collaborate with leadership and nursing preceptors in evaluating and promoting development amongst the nursing staff.
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and standards of patient care relevant to clinical practice
- Manage education of staff, including employees' orientation to the unit, standards of care, and competencies.
- Design, plan, and implement a criteria-based staff development program to meet the clinical needs of all nursing care team members
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the overall orientation and continuing education programs for the Nursing department
- Take an active role in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education and patient education programs, and other educational projects as requested
- Actively participate in unit departmental and interdisciplinary programs, meetings and conferences to assist with changing trends in the delivery of patient care
- Engage in unit specific performance improvement initiatives and assist in addressing knowledge deficits identified through unit-based monitoring
Participates in the orientation and onboarding of new staff, providing education, guidance, and support to promote safe clinical practice, competency development, and adherence to departmental and organizational standards
Demonstrates familiarity with current Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) guidelines and integrates evidence-based standards into operating room and recovery room education, clinical practice, and staff competency development
Qualifications:
- Passion for Nursing Education
- 5+ Years of RN acute care nursing experience
- Leadership or Nursing Education experience preferred
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree required
- Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Preferred Certifications: BCLS Instructor certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification ; CNOR Certification
Posted Salary RangeUSD $130,000.00 - USD $155,000.00 /Yr.
