Seeking an experienced
Nurse Director for Maternal Child Health to lead clinical and operational excellence across labor & delivery, postpartum, and related maternal care units. This leader will drive quality, safety, and performance outcomes through evidence-based nursing practice, strategic management, and collaborative leadership.
The Nurse Director will manage multiple departments within a 24/7 acute care environment, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, compliance, and staff development in alignment with Healthcare's mission and values.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations - Lead multiple Maternal Child Health units to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
- Develop and execute operational and clinical strategies aligned with enterprise goals.
- Manage departmental budgets, staffing, and resource allocation effectively.
- Establish and monitor outcome objectives for quality, safety, and financial performance.
- Ensure 24/7 operational readiness, emergency preparedness, and clinical continuity.
Clinical & Compliance Oversight - Maintain oversight of nursing practice standards, ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and The Joint Commission (TJC) regulations.
- Lead patient safety and quality initiatives using evidence-based methodologies.
- Oversee clinical audits, surveys, and readiness reviews; mitigate compliance gaps.
- Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to drive integrated care delivery.
People Management & Development - Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing nursing team.
- Drive engagement, accountability, and professional growth through coaching and mentorship.
- Implement performance management, workforce planning, and succession development strategies.
Strategic Improvement & Innovation - Lead business process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to enhance outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Champion continuous improvement and a culture of safety and innovation.
Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum Requirements: - Registered Nurse License (California) - Required at hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required at hire
- Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field - Required
- Minimum 7 years of experience in patient care delivery
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing operational or project budgets
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports
Preferred Qualifications: - Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC) or Nurse Executive Advanced Certification (NEA-BC)
- Experience with quality improvement and performance excellence initiatives
- Background in Maternal Child Health or Labor & Delivery management
