Full Job Description
Title:
Nuclear Command and Control (NC3) SME

KBR is seeking a Strategic Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC) at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The selected candidate will provide strategic-level analysis, planning, and operational expertise supporting NC3 programs and capabilities, including Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA), missile warning and tracking, survivability and endurability, satellite communications, Nuclear Detection Systems, command and control systems, cybersecurity, and communications architectures. The SME will assist senior leaders in evaluating operational requirements, assessing mission impacts, and developing recommendations to support the readiness and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear enterprise.

In this position, you will:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze NC3 operational capabilities, plans, concepts, doctrine, tactics, and organizational effectiveness to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assess ITW/AA operational impacts and interactions across the NC3 enterprise and develop recommendations to support mission execution.
  • Review system modifications, modernization efforts, and acquisition activities to ensure alignment with operational requirements and mission objectives.
  • Support strategic planning and policy development efforts related to NC3 and the nuclear enterprise.
  • Participate in senior-level forums and governance activities, including Nuclear Enterprise Reviews, Nuclear Oversight Boards, Nuclear Issue Resolution and Integration working groups, and Capabilities Programming Guidance initiatives.
  • Evaluate funding decisions, document operational impacts and risks, and develop courses of action to address mission shortfalls or emerging requirements.
  • Support development and review of program plans, schedules, budgets, and operational resource requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and update operational documentation, including mission directives, requirements documents, concepts of operation, manpower assessments, readiness reporting products, mission essential task documentation, and weapon system fielding and acceptance reports.
  • Provide strategic advice, technical expertise, and analytical recommendations to senior military and government leadership on NC3-related programs and initiatives.
  • Travel may be required for limited durations to support customer meetings, reviews, and operational events.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • An active TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered for this position, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience supporting NC3, nuclear operations, strategic deterrence, ITW/AA, nuclear force management, missile warning, or related mission areas. Experience may be substituted for education where appropriate.
  • Experience supporting Headquarters-level organizations within the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Air Force, Combatant Commands, Field Commands, Major Commands, or equivalent organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with NC3-related systems and mission areas, including one or more of the following:
    • Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA)
    • Missile warning and missile tracking
    • Survivability and endurability programs
    • Satellite communications (SATCOM)
    • U.S. Nuclear Detection System (USNDS)
    • Command and Control Incident Communications System (CCIC2S)
    • Command and control systems.
  • Experience providing strategic analysis, operational assessments, technical guidance, and recommendations to senior leaders and decision makers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop executive-level briefings, reports, and recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.


Desired:
  • Experience supporting Joint Staff, Combatant Command, Service Headquarters, or other senior-level strategic organizations.
  • Experience with Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), requirements development, force design, or capability assessment processes.
  • Experience supporting nuclear modernization, acquisition programs, operational planning, research and development, science and technology initiatives, or weapons system integration efforts.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Space Force, Department of the Air Force, and Department of Defense strategic planning and programming processes.


Work Environment:
  • Location: On-site at Peterson SFB, CO
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
  • Working Hours: Standard


Scheduled Weekly Hours:

40hrs

Basic Compensation:

$115,000 - $130,000

This range is for Colorado only.

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
