Job Summary:

As an NPI Team Leader within E+ES, you'll drive complex, industry-altering programs from Launch to completion. You'll lead cross-functional teams including engineering, commercial, supply chain, and manufacturing through concept definition to fully productionized customer solutions. Your ability to organize teams, leverage talent, and identify and eliminate risk through a multi-stage development cycle will be put on full display. This leader will cultivate relationships across the value stream with the goal of meeting end customer needs through various applications in motors, generators, and power electronics offerings.

What You Will Do:
  • Clearly communicate, collaborate, and build trust across a diverse range of people - E&E stakeholders, vertical stakeholders, peers, and technical leaders.
  • Deeply understand and execute product development processes - NPI, NTI, and E&ES bespoke Small Batch process.
  • Utilize business resource processes and applications to inform and help make product decisions. Closely track and lead program R&D budget management, aligning spend via regular touchpoints with product teams, revising as necessary as program changes dictate, ensuring forecasts accurately reflect stated program deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Chief Engineers Technical Managers on transitioning new technology projects (NTI) to new product introduction (NPI) projects. Collaborate with the Commercial Team to understand and meet customer needs. Work closely with L5 system technical leads and product group partners.
  • Contribute to defining the direction for product design, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results.
  • Develop/maintain project plans and schedules in collaboration with all E+ES functional areas (product support, life cycle management, engineering, purchasing, validation) and product group teams.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Oversee project execution, including schedule, cost, and performance; communicate status to stakeholders and functional partners; proactively identify, escalate, and resolve issues.
  • Influence project staffing decisions; motivate, coach, and develop project teams; communicate with customers to manage expectations; and ensure effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
  • Developing and refining processes in the project intake and governance space, ensuring consistency and priority alignment for project onboarding.
  • Manage conflict resolution through effective negotiation, maintaining team momentum throughout the program life cycle.


What You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Quality Management: Working knowledge and understanding and knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Effective Communications: Expert experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Program Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.
  • New Product Introduction experience (leadership capacity or team member)


What Will Set You Apart:
  • Working knowledge of current industry state-of-the-art technologies in the power electronics and motors spaces.
  • Willingness and proficiency for leading teams through ambiguity, where not all boundaries are fully defined, and flexibility is necessary in achieving a common goal.
  • Previous experience juggling multiple complex, multi-functional programs from concept to completion.
  • Experience leading teams through RBM (rolling business model) planning cycles.

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL and domestic relocation is provided

  • This role requires 5 days a week in-office availability


Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
