JOB SUMMARY:

Manages and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in sourcing activities related to Product Engineering (PE) projects. Sets strategic direction for sourcing within PE projects which align with overall Global Sourcing strategy and coaches teammates to execute. The PE Sourcing team leads supplier sourcing / selection activities and successfully manages the supplier relationship to ensure that the supply chain is capable of delivering high quality, cost effective materials to support production requirements.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Creates, implements, and maintains sourcing deliverables through the MIP process for Product Engineering. This includes defining Sourcing standards for new product development across all Midmark sites.
  • Collaborates with the Commodity Sourcing team, supplier quality, and Engineering to develop a commodity strategy and technology roadmap that aligns technology and business requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the Sourcing Leads within the Global Sourcing team including guidelines, standards, and productivity measurements. Coaches and directs the Sourcing team in the spirit of the Midmark Production System; continuous improvement in quality, cost, service and technology.
  • Responsible for purchased material requirements and supply chain maturation of new products by conveying relevant information among team members, functions, and suppliers.
  • Guides PE Sourcing team to lead engagement with suppliers in design for Supply Chain activities, establishing a high level of quality, manufacturability and cost control in new product designs.
  • Leads cross-functional activities at all locations related to PE projects to ensure alignment with organization and project goals.
  • Interfaces with cross functional teams to assess current and future sourcing requirements in New Product Development.
  • Maintains a travel schedule with teammates as required with special emphasis put on key strategic sourcing partners.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering or related field with 8+ years progressive experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and contract management required.

COMPETENCY and/or SKILL:
  • A high level of business acumen and comfort working in a cross-functional environment
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain, purchasing principles & concepts and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal), negotiating, relationship building and interpersonal skills with ability to influence
  • Strong analytical capability with demonstrated adeptness at problem-solving and ability to not only view details but also understand big picture implications
  • Flexible, detail oriented, and able to quickly act under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, utilizing Excel, databases and BI tools
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead global multisite cross-functional teams
  • Experience with sourcing and/or supplier management for products within an FDA-regulated medical device industry is preferred
  • APICS, CSCP, CPIM, ISM, CPSM, or CPSD certification preferred


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads and directs the work of other teammates and has full authority for personnel decisions. Sets strategic planning, direction, and goals for the department or function.
