Job Summary
full time, 36 hours, day/night rotating, weekends and holidays

An exciting opportunity exists for a certified Neonatal APP to join our established practice. We have a full time position for a dedicated practitioner to join our practice in our 38 bed NICU/SCN. The practice rotates coverage through our 21 bed level IV NICU, 17 bed level II SCN, and our high risk delivery service. Coverage in the NICU involves managing a caseload of acutely ill neonates on the NNP service who present with varied medical and surgical diagnoses. Therapies in the NICU include HFV, inhaled nitric oxide, and ECMO. Special Care Nursery coverage is as a primary provider for late preterm infants, convalescing preterm infants, and infants with delayed transition. In house neonatology back up and support is available 24 hours a day. The neonatology faculty and nursing leadership at MGH are supportive of the ongoing growth and development of the nurse practitioner role.
In addition to clinical coverage, we are seeking a team member who has a commitment to ongoing professional development, expansion and growth of the advanced practice role, involvement in unit-based projects, and close collaboration with our nursing and physician colleagues.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Essential Functions
-Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
-Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
-Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
-Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
-Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
-Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
-Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
