As Northern Regional Manager, you9ll play a key role in connecting northern communities by providing hands-on leadership across our northern operations, supporting frontline teams, and ensuring safe, reliable service throughout the network. Reports to: Director of Ground Operations

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Travel: Frequent travel to northern outstations
What you9ll do

In this role, you will provide practical, visible leadership across Air North9s northern operation. You will work with station teams, contractors, vendors, airport authorities, local communities, and internal departments to keep the operation moving safely and reliably.
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee safe and efficient aircraft handling, passenger service, baggage operations, grooming, and ramp activities
  • Monitor operational performance, including on-time performance, delays, baggage handling, staffing, customer service, and overall station reliability
  • Lead teams to provide calm, practical support during irregular operations and emergencies
People Leadership
  • Lead coach, mentor, and support team members across the northern region
  • Participate in hiring, training, succession planning, and employee development
  • Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, service and safety
Safety, Service & Compliance
  • Support compliance with Transport Canada requirements, airport authority requirements, company policies, and Safety Management System standards
  • Promote safety awareness and practical operational best practices across northern stations
  • Resolve escalated operational and customer service matters in a timely, respectful, and professional way
Planning, Reporting & Relationships
  • Monitor staffing levels, overtime, operational expenses, vendor performance, and resource needs
  • Support contract management, operational planning, reports, performance summaries, and recommendations
  • Maintain positive working relationships with airport authorities, ground service providers, contractors, and local communities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with northern communities, Indigenous governments, and key stakeholders to strengthen Air North9s reputation and support regional growth
What you bring

You do not need to have followed one perfect career path to be successful in this role. We are looking for a grounded, safety-minded leader who understands operational standards, communicates well, and can earn trust across teams and communities.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • At least 4 years of experience in aviation; experience in northern operations is strongly preferred
  • At least 3 years of management or leadership experience
  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid security clearance, radio, and airside driving permits
  • Physical ability to work in an active operational environment, including heavy lifting, extended standing, confined spaces, kneeling, etc.
  • Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or proof of right to work in Canada

Position Details

  • Frequent travel to northern outstations is expected
  • Work includes a mix of office-based responsibilities, stakeholder engagement, and outdoor operational activities in all weather conditions.
