Nonconformance & Corrective Action Manager (NCR/CAR Lead)
As the Nonconformance & Corrective Action Manager (NCR/CAR Lead) at C.A. Murren, you give the nonconformance in front of you your full, undivided attention until it is resolved the right way, not just the fast way. You don't move on to the next item until the evidence, the causal analysis, and the paperwork are complete down to the smallest detail. If you'd rather fully close one issue than juggle five open ones, this is the role for you!
C.A. Murren is seeking a Nonconformance & Corrective Action Manager (NCR/CAR Lead) to own the project's nonconformance and corrective-action process on a project located in Aiken, SC from identification through disposition, effectiveness verification, and closure. The ideal candidate has led an NCR/CAR or corrective-action program on a DOE or commercial nuclear project, is comfortable facilitating root-cause evaluations, and knows how to challenge a weak causal chain without overstepping into engineering disposition authority. This person is highly organized, an exceptional technical writer, and confident holding the line on evidence even under schedule pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer NCR/CAR procedures, logs, classification, aging, and management review cadence
- Ensure nonconforming items are identified, documented, and controlled pending authorized disposition
- Facilitate problem statements, causal analysis, and corrective actions with measurable effectiveness criteria
- Route NCRs to the responsible engineering, procurement, or Company organizations for review and approval
- Confirm dispositions are authorized, technically supported, and implemented exactly as written
- Verify completion evidence and required Company acceptance before closure
- Lead root-cause and apparent-cause evaluations for significant or recurring conditions
- Perform monthly trend analysis and recommend management action
- Coordinate vendor corrective-action requests and effectiveness verification
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, quality, construction management, or a related field
- 8+ years of quality, engineering, or corrective-action experience, including 5+ years in DOE or commercial nuclear work
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASME NQA-1 nonconforming-item and corrective-action requirements and DOE O 414.1D
- Ability to facilitate causal analysis and corrective-action development without substituting opinion for technical authority
- Experience managing electronic issue logs and high-volume construction NCR workflows
- Strong technical writing, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Formal training in TapRooT, Kepner-Tregoe, or a comparable causal-analysis methodology (preferred)
- NQA-1 auditor qualification or surveillance experience (preferred)
- Experience with supplier corrective actions and material-traceability issues (preferred)
- Experience distinguishing corrective action, preventive action, and extent of condition (preferred)
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Participation in pre-employment and random drug screening program
- Subject to background screening
