Job Summary
The NOMAD Mainframe SME / Admin will serve as the primary subject matter expert for the NOMAD Fourth Generation Language (4GL) environment. The role will be responsible for administering, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, and supporting the NOMAD platform within enterprise mainframe environments. The position will provide application development support, troubleshoot platform and infrastructure issues, collaborate with mainframe systems teams, and contribute to modernization and potential migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary SME for the NOMAD Fourth Generation Language (4GL) environment.
Administer, configure, maintain, and upgrade the NOMAD platform.
Support developers utilizing NOMAD for application development and data access.
Collaborate with mainframe systems teams on platform stability, performance, and maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve NOMAD-related application and infrastructure issues.
Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting to maintain platform reliability.
Evaluate platform architecture and provide recommendations for modernization or migration strategies.
Assist with potential migration efforts from NOMAD to alternative technologies.
Document processes, standards, and operational procedures.
Support mainframe upgrades and implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
Deep expertise with NOMAD (Select Business Solutions).
Strong experience with mainframe administration and support.
Experience working in z/VM environments.
Experience with mainframe data technologies, including DB2/MVS, DB2/VM, IMS, IDMS, Adabas, Teradata, VSAM, and QSAM.
Experience supporting application development and data access using NOMAD.
Strong experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Experience with mainframe upgrades and implementations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving as a technical lead or SME within large enterprise mainframe environments.
Experience leading or supporting legacy application modernization initiatives.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across development and infrastructure teams.
Experience planning and executing migrations from legacy mainframe tools and applications.
