Full Job Description

Job Description

Role
The CAE Engineer for Noise and Vibration (N&V) leads the virtual performance integration of the vehicle components and subsystems as they relate to noise and vibration characteristics. This role utilizes advanced simulation tools and full vehicle modeling to evaluate and influence design decisions, ensuring N&V performance is effectively integrated across disciplines. By aligning technical solutions with vehicle-level objectives, the engineer helps deliver customer-focused performance while balancing trade-offs across multiple domains.
The engineer in this role will be focused on structural vibration and structure-borne noise using primarily finite element methods.  The engineer performs complex computer simulations to predict N&V performance against defined metrics and develops integrated solutions that meet program requirements. This role is instrumental in driving enterprise-wide alignment, ensuring N&V considerations are embedded early and consistently throughout the vehicle development process.
This position may be filled with a Senior CAE Engineer or CAE Engineer. The level for this role will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

Senior CAE Engineer
What You’ll Do
  • Lead the design and development of systems impacting N&V through simulation-based evaluation, ensuring alignment with vehicle-level performance targets.
  • Perform advanced analytical simulations at the full vehicle, subsystem, and component levels using primarily finite element tools (FEA) for structural vibration and structure-borne noise including mid-frequency.
  • Build, debug, and execute simulation models to predict N&V performance and generate actionable design recommendations.
  • Develop technical solutions that meet N&V targets while optimizing for mass, cost, and packaging constraints.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure holistic performance integration.
  • Develop technical solutions using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and other methodologies enabling optimal and robust designs.
  • Lead the development of new CAE techniques, simulation tools, and procedures, including solver parameters and material characterization.
  • Stay current with emerging CAE tools, technologies, and competitive product trends through training and technical workshops.
  • Lead Closed-Loop Learning (CLL) initiatives and actively participate in forums supporting virtualization and enterprise-wide performance integration.
  • Engage in Global CAE Product & Technical Focus Groups and other collaborative engineering communities.

  • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals.
  • High degree of analytical ability (root cause failure analysis) where problems are complex or difficult
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering, Math or Science or closely related field of study
  • 7+ years of post-graduate N&V experience, preferably using FEA, MBD, or SEA methods for analysis
