Job Title: New Product Introduction Performance Engineer

Working Pattern: Full time Onsite/Hybrid in office 3 days/week avg.

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

Relocation is available for this role if appropriate

Position Summary:

As a New Product Introduction Performance Engineer for Rolls-Royce, you will be a part of the Global System Engineering and Product Performance Capability team. This role involves understanding design and simulation of whole system level design, simulation, and verification of gas turbine engines and the associated systems to predict and verify system attributes which come from the integration of sub-system components.

The role encompasses a wide range of technical activities ranging from development of the Engine Performance computer models from engineering first principles, 1D thermodynamic simulation, empirical modelling, understanding of certification requirements and physical testing.

In addition, the role requires integration skills to allow requirements, data, and product understanding to be gathered and disseminated across various stake holders (e.g. internal sub-system and component teams, airframers, regulatory authorities and customers)

  • Own the definition of the Engine Performance or Product Performance cycle.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics with 2+ years of experience; OR
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics; OR
  • A PhD in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship


Preferred:

  • Experience in Engine Performance and related support of the design and/or development of gas turbines
  • Engine cycle design to meet aircraft manufacturer or government objectives including current and future technologies
  • Simulation/modelling of gas turbine cycles, hybrid electric systems, cycle analysis, engine operability, sizing and/or preliminary design analysis
  • Experience Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) modeling or similar
  • Proficiency in computer programming language such as C++, Python, MATLAB (Engineering modelling and design), and/or FORTRAN
  • Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and certification frameworks
