Position Overview

Ready to help bring the next generation of International trucks from engineering into production?

 

The New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer plays a critical role in preparing International’s San Antonio manufacturing facility for new products, engineering changes, and production launches across assembly and fabrication operations.

 

You’ll serve as a key connection between Product Engineering and Manufacturing, turning product designs into production-ready processes. From developing manufacturing processes and layouts to leading readiness reviews, pilot builds, tooling implementation, and launch activities, you’ll help ensure new products are ready to build safely, efficiently, and at scale.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering role working closely with Operations, Quality, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, suppliers, and other engineering teams. You’ll also provide technical guidance and help lead problem-solving efforts for complex manufacturing and launch challenges.

 

Work Schedule: This positionsupports a production environment that operates Mon 6 Thurs (5:30AM 6 4:00PM) with flexibility to support overtime and production recovery days as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing Product Introduction (MPI) activities for new vehicle programs, engineering changes, and manufacturing improvements.
  • Evaluate manufacturing impacts and develop production-ready processes, layouts, and work methods for assembly and fabrication operations.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness reviews to ensure people, processes, tooling, equipment, and documentation are prepared for launch.
  • Support pilot builds, manufacturing trials, production launches, and ramp-up activities, identifying and resolving issues throughout the process.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process flows, PFMEAs, standard work instructions, SOPs, and process change documentation.
  • Lead time studies, line balancing, labor analysis, capacity assessments, and labor standard development to support production planning.
  • Identify and coordinate requirements for tooling, fixtures, gauges, equipment, and manufacturing infrastructure.
  • Coordinate tooling and equipment installation, validation, and startup with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD.
  • Support MES and ERP integration for new products and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to drive complex manufacturing issues to resolution.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance and project data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and Minitab.
  • Coordinate supplier readiness and support equipment and tooling validation activities.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recovery plans to leadership.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring processes meet safety, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and guidance to engineers and cross-functional teams during launch and problem-solving activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of product manufacturing experience

  • Master's degree and no experience

OR

  • At least 3 years of product manufacturing experience

Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 510 years of progressive experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, NPI, MPI, or production launch support.
  • Experience in automotive, heavy-duty truck, or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong experience supporting new product introductions, engineering changes, and production launches.
  • Experience with assembly and fabrication manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD software.
  • Experience with ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, JIT, ergonomics, cycle time analysis, line balancing, and facility layout.
  • Experience developing PFMEAs, process flows, standard work, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong analytical, project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with time studies, labor standards, capacity planning, tooling, and equipment implementation.
  • Experience with LN ERP, Teamcenter, NX, Power BI, or Minitab is a plus.
  • Experience with automation, manufacturing systems integration, pilot builds, and launch readiness is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Heavy-duty truck manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
