New Model Program Engineer

Overview / Summary

The New Model Program Engineer plays a critical role in the successful launch of new vehicle and powertrain models within manufacturing plants. This position is responsible for program management and delivery of new vehicle programs, including issue resolution, quality and status assessments, vehicle fleet management, and adherence to established budgets and timing.

The role supports launch excellence by managing critical launch processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely communication regarding launch status and risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key gatekeeper for new model programs, ensuring adherence to established processes and standards throughout the launch lifecycle.
  • Manage and oversee activities related to pre-production build events, ensuring alignment with program objectives for quality and efficiency.
  • Manage the ordering, building, testing, and disposition of pre-production vehicles.
  • Execute the Pre-Production Drive Fleet Evaluation Plan.
  • Manage the approval process for product development changes and ensure changes are integrated and proven before prototype builds.
  • Lead the build issues management process for cross-functional program teams, driving issues to resolution and timely closure.
  • Co-chair relevant launch meetings and drive resolution of part support issues for pre-production build events.
  • Manage launch budget approval processes and execute activities controlled by New Model Programs within the overall launch budget.
  • Prepare and present weekly New Model Program assessment reports, including program status and potential risks.
  • Support senior management presentations by communicating program status, challenges, and proposed solutions.
  • Facilitate the transition and integration of launch teams into manufacturing plants.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • 2+ years of experience with problem-solving disciplines using statistical mindsets.
  • 1+ year of experience in powertrain/vehicle operations manufacturing, design, and/or program management, with project management or launch experience.
  • Program management experience, including maintaining a list of issues and working with cross-functional teams to resolve them.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Program management experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Experience with processes and methodologies involved in bringing new vehicle models from development into full-scale production.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Management and Issue Management.
