Responsibilities

  • Complete pre-op and post-op visits for surgical patients, ensuring all necessary tests and clearances are in order prior to surgery.
  • Collaborate closely with the supervising physician to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Coordinate with nurses and referral coordinators for patient triage and scheduling needs.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider to join a very busy Neurosurgical practice at Piedmont Athens Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient's medical record in ambulatory practice. Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
  • Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
  • Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries, noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
  • Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise. Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
  • Complete pre-op and post-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising Physicians to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
  • Collaborate with supervising physician to ensure quality of care
  • Work closely with nurses to triage patient needs and referral coordinators to ensure proper scheduling
  • Rotate weeknight, weekend, and holiday call with the other APP's. Take call with Physician.


Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's in Nursing Required or
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board Required

Work Experience
  • 1+ years of Neurosurgical experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications
  • PA - Physician Assistant Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia. Updated NCCPA for PA's Upon Hire Required or
  • ACNP - Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, WHNP) Upon Hire Required
