Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Functional Assignment:

Under direction is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, administration, and technical documentation for enterprise network and security systems. Manages small to medium projects, overseeing daily operations, engineering complex solutions, and performing root cause analysis for system failures. The position also supports the research and integration of new technologies to align with organizational goals.

Examples of Typical Tasks:
1. Plans, designs, configures, installs, implements, tests, integrates, and maintains enterprise-level networks and
security systems.
2. Provides technical oversight and support for the availability, optimization, performance and capacity reviews of network services, and the troubleshooting of various enterprise network/security technologies.
3. Leads small to medium-scale network projects from planning through implementation.
4. Designs, implements, and optimizes enterprise internetworking devices and supporting network fabric.
5. Administers and optimizes network management and monitoring utilities.
6. Oversees administration of network Infrastructure and coordinates with external vendors, dependent services, and
enterprise engineering.
7. Installs and configures devices to established EITS standards.
8. Maintains IT inventory databases in an accurate manner, including Configuration Management Database and
National Incident Management Systems.
9. Operates and maintains networks, tracks problems, monitors performance, and executes upgrades to hardware and software.
10. Follows established organization change management procedures and internal processes.
11. Defines and maintains documentation for network configurations, operating procedures, and service records.
12. Engineers and implements network infrastructure modifications in collaboration with internal business unit and
external vendors to support strategic initiatives.
13. Resolves complex incidents and request tickets, performing root cause analysis for problem resolution.
14. Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and audit requirements.
15. Assists with training of junior engineers.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Assignment Qualification Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or related discipline; and,
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in data processing, computer systems, and applications.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or,
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Assignment Qualification Preferences:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or related discipline; and,
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in Networking and/or Network Design experience; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Preferred Knowledge Areas, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics:
1. Certification in Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDA).
2. Knowledge of switches, routers, Virtual Private Network, Voice over Internet Protocol, and wireless systems.
3. In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of System Network design and management.
4. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work well with others.
6. Highly self-motivated and team oriented.
7. Accuracy, attention to detail, confidential, and strong customer-service orientation.
