Job Description:The NetOps Software Manager leads a team of software engineers for designing, developing, automating, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure and network management platforms. This role combines software development leadership with deep network operations expertise to drive automation, reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence across the organization's network ecosystem.
The ideal candidate possesses strong experience in software engineering, network operations, cloud networking, infrastructure automation, and people management. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize network operations through software-driven solutions and DevOps practices.
Team Leadership & Resource Management- Lead day-to-day operations for distributed on-shore and off-shore development teams.
- Manage staffing needs, capacity planning, resource allocation, and talent retention strategies.
Delivery Excellence- Define and implement engineering best practices, development standards, and performance metrics.
- Ensure engineering squads consistently meet sprint goals, roadmap commitments, and delivery milestones.
Architecture & Innovation Alignment- Partner with System and Innovation Architects to assess existing software designs and reduce technical debt.
- Drive scalable, maintainable component architectures that support long-term product evolution.
Quality & Stability Ownership- Champion strong software engineering practices, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and stability across network service applications.
Process & Governance- Foster a culture of accountability, transparent communication, and predictable execution across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Job Qualifications:Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in network engineering, software engineering, or network operations.
- 3+ years of people management or technical leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Experience as a Java Developer, including strong expertise in writing complex SQL queries, relational database design, and project build management using Maven.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef.
- Knowledge of cloud networking technologies in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications- Frontend Web Stack: Familiarity with modern frontend technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and Angular.
- Domain Experience: Background in building, maintaining, or consuming Network and Systems Management (NMS/SMS) platforms.
- Pipeline Management: Direct experience implementing, securing, and maintaining production CI/CD automation pipelines.
- IT Service Management (ITSM): Knowledge of ITSM frameworks, such as Incident Management, Change Management, and Service Request workflows, as applied to enterprise network service management platforms. Formal ITSM certification, such as ITIL Foundation or higher, is strongly preferred.
