Software Developer (.NET Core)

Description

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future, and eligible to obtain the required clearance. Applications will not be considered if eligibility requirements are not met.

We are seeking a Software Developer (.NET Core) to support the development and maintenance of VA Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) Data Management Center (DMC) applications under the guidance of senior developers.

In this role, you will perform hands-on coding, testing, and documentation to sustain existing systems and support incremental enhancements, working across a two-server on-premises infrastructure and following secure coding standards required for VHA-hosted applications (FIPS 199 Moderate).

Work location will be confirmed with the COR; the VA has referenced on-premises, hybrid, and remote elements across tasks under this program.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the development and maintenance of DMC applications under the guidance of senior developers
  • Perform hands-on coding, testing, and documentation to sustain existing systems and support incremental enhancements
  • Develop and modify application code using C#, .NET Core MVC, legacy .NET Framework v4.8, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Maintain existing user interfaces and business logic
  • Support bug fixes, testing, and validation of new features and releases
  • Assist with maintenance of automated jobs and backend services
  • Support updates to technical documentation and system artifacts
  • Support SQL Server databases, SQL programming, and application-level data access
  • Participate in troubleshooting across the two-server on-premises infrastructure
  • Follow secure coding standards required for VHA-hosted applications (FIPS 199 Moderate)

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust clearance for this role
  • Must complete VA background investigation, Identity Proofing, Fingerprinting, and PIV credentialing in accordance with VA Handbook 0710
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with .NET Core MVC and C#
  • Knowledge of SQL database and programming

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (no equivalencies accepted)
