The National Sales Manager is responsible for leading national sales efforts. Such efforts include expanding new client relationships, growing assets under management, and managing a team of sales representatives who prospect, develop sales pipelines, execute sales, and build relationships with plan sponsors, consultants, intermediaries, union and elected officials, retirement market decision-makers, and other stakeholders. The manager focuses on sales across tax codes in the 457, 401a, DC/IO, and 403b markets.
Significant travel required.
Essential Functions for this role include:- Lead national sales efforts to win new clients, deepen relationships, and grow assets under management.
- Manage and develop regional sales representatives responsible for prospecting, pipeline growth, and sales execution.
- Maintain a national sales pipeline with clear activity metrics, opportunity tracking, and reporting.
- Partner across sales, consultant relations, marketing, and product to align outreach with national priorities.
- Prepare the team for sales meetings, finalist presentations, conferences, and follow-up.
- Set sales goals, call plans, coaching routines, and performance expectations for consistent execution.
- Monitor performance, provide feedback, remove barriers, and reinforce effective sales behaviors.
- Use sales data, market insights, and team feedback to improve outreach and client acquisition.
- Drive sales effectiveness, support annual planning and budgeting, and travel as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; MBA/MA preferred
- 7+ years of sales, business development, or client acquisition experience, preferably in retirement plans, financial services, or institutional markets
- Series 7 and 24 licenses required
- Experience leading sales teams, including geographically dispersed sales professionals
- Strong ethics, integrity, and sound judgement
- Strong sales leadership, coaching, and team management skills
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Customer focus, trust, and results orientation
