Full Job Description
This opportunity entails being responsible for commercial strategy, procurement, contracting, and risk-related input within the national Advisory group. This position acts as a consultant in their area of expertise by providing strategic analysis to key clients to ensure successful project and program delivery and client satisfaction. This position supports senior Advisory team members to develop and promote subject matter expertise, commercial best practices, and innovative approaches in targeted practice areas. The role serves as a bridge between technical, commercial, procurement, and legal stakeholders, helping clients make informed business and project delivery decisions.

What You'll Do:
  • Applies commercial expertise and guidance on project structures, risk allocation, delivery options and contract terms for innovative delivery contracts. Coordinates commercial considerations across all disciplines within programs.
  • Develops and implements procurement documentation and strategies.
  • Engages with industry participants to define and optimize commercial structures and provisions.
  • Acts as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis, and engage in marketing and business development, as well as preparing reports and presentations to HNTB leadership and senior client personnel.
  • Assists with the successful contracting and execution of projects, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership. Supports tasks and major workstreams, interfaces with senior Advisory and client leadership to ensure 4for4 delivery while managing client relationships and day to day interactions with appropriate counterparts.
  • Prepares technical materials for client engagements, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus.
  • Trains and instructs line personnel on innovative delivery and other Advisory disciplines. Advises on business planning and supports marketing efforts of the line organization.
  • Works with the line organization in a senior support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing strategic input and market knowledge to expand service offerings and enhance win probabilities.
  • Mentors and oversees the work of junior Advisory staff through performance management and encouragement of professional development opportunities.
  • Contributes to strategic planning for Advisory and assists with thought leadership initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in relevant field and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • PhD/JD in relevant field and 6 years of relevant experience.


What We Prefer:
• Majority of work experience in a directly relevant role, advising clients on commercial strategy, procurement approaches, contract structures, and project delivery models for complex infrastructure programs
• Experience developing, reviewing, and negotiating procurement and contract documents for alternative delivery projects - including P3, design-build, PDB, CMAR/CMGC - or other major capital projects and programs
• Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions
• Ability to evaluate and apply industry precedents, commercial frameworks, and best practices to support client decision-making
• Experience creating and maintaining commercial tools, templates, precedent libraries, and best-practice guidance documents that enable scalable service delivery
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate alignment among technical, commercial, procurement, operations, and legal stakeholders
• Strong professional connections across the infrastructure industry, well known and respected by industry peers, active in industry organizations
• Excellent communications, writing, quantitative skills
• Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders
• Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings
• Possesses subject matter expertise (legal, financial, commercial, technical)
• Deep understanding of consulting business and key value drivers for HNTB
• For candidates with a legal background, demonstrated ability to apply legal training and contract expertise in a commercial advisory capacity while working in coordination with client internal and external legal counsel.

The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $207,686.38 - $331,758.78. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for New York is $225,746.07 - $360,607.36. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.

The approximate pay range for Virginia is $207,686.38 - $331,758.78.
