National Advanced Clinical Education Specialist (N-ACES) - Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO)

The Opportunity

Abbott Electrophysiology is dedicated to restoring health and improving quality of life through innovative solutions that advance the standard of care. As the leader in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO), Abbott continues to expand access to life-changing stroke prevention therapies through the Amplatzer™ Amulet™ LAA Occluder.

The National Advanced Clinical Education Specialist (N-ACES) - LAAO serves as a national clinical leader responsible for the strategic development, execution, and continuous improvement of clinical education programs supporting Abbott's LAA franchise. This role partners closely with Commercial Leadership, Professional Education, Marketing, Clinical Research, Sales Training, and the field clinical organization to ensure excellence in procedural execution, physician education, and field competency development.

The N-ACES will act as a national subject matter expert for Amulet procedures, providing leadership in clinical strategy, field force development, customer education, and best-practice dissemination. This individual will play a critical role in scaling clinical excellence across the organization while supporting the successful adoption and growth of Abbott's LAA therapies.

This position requires extensive collaboration across commercial and clinical functions and will involve travel up to 60%.

What You'll Do

Clinical Education Strategy
  • Lead the development and execution of national clinical education strategies for Abbott's LAA franchise.
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance educational pathways supporting Amulet procedural success.
  • Establish and maintain competency frameworks for Clinical Specialists and Territory Managers supporting LAA accounts.
  • Develop standardized training materials, procedural guides, best practices, and advanced educational content.
  • Partner with Professional Education and Commercial Development teams to align field education with strategic business objectives.


Field Force Development
  • Serve as the clinical development leader for the LAA field organization.
  • Create and oversee onboarding and advanced development programs for new and tenured clinical specialists.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual training programs, workshops, and certification initiatives.
  • Mentor clinical leaders, high-potential specialists, and regional trainers across the organization.
  • Assess field clinical proficiency and identify opportunities for performance improvement and development.


Clinical Excellence & Procedure Optimization
  • Establish and promote best practices related to patient selection, procedural workflow, imaging integration, implantation techniques, and post-procedure care.
  • Support procedural excellence through strategic account engagement and consultation.
  • Identify procedural trends and opportunities across the field and develop initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and efficiency.
  • Provide expert guidance during complex cases and high-profile account launches as needed.
  • Translate real-world clinical insights into educational programs and actionable recommendations.


Strategic Account & Commercial Support
  • Collaborate with Area Vice Presidents, Regional Directors, and Commercial Leadership to support strategic account initiatives.
  • Support priority accounts through targeted educational programs and clinical development activities.
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify opportunities for clinical differentiation and business growth.
  • Drive adoption of clinical best practices that contribute to customer satisfaction and procedural success.
  • Serve as a clinical consultant during customer engagements, physician meetings, and educational programs.


Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Professional Education, Training, and Commercial Excellence teams.
  • Provide insight into market dynamics, customer needs, competitive trends, and educational gaps.
  • Contribute to product launch readiness, educational planning, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support development of executive-level presentations and business reviews.
  • Act as the national voice of the field by identifying educational opportunities and recommending strategic improvements.


Data & Performance Analytics
  • Utilize clinical and commercial insights to evaluate training effectiveness and field development needs.
  • Develop and analyze performance metrics, dashboards, and educational KPIs.
  • Leverage data to identify trends, forecast educational requirements, and measure organizational effectiveness.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience within cardiovascular medical devices, structural heart, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, or related healthcare industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in LAAO therapies, structural heart procedures, or catheter-based cardiovascular interventions.
  • Extensive experience training physicians, allied health professionals, and field-based clinical personnel.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing educational programs at a regional or national level.
  • Strong understanding of procedural workflows, imaging modalities, and cardiovascular anatomy relevant to LAA closure procedures.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across a highly matrixed environment.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%).


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced clinical degree (RN, NP, PA, RCIS, CVT, Perfusion, or equivalent clinical background).
  • Previous experience in Structural Heart, LAAO, or Stroke Prevention therapies.
  • Experience leading national training or commercial development initiatives.
  • Professional education, field training, or sales training experience.
  • Prior people leadership or mentorship experience.
  • MBA, Master's degree, or advanced healthcare degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with experience utilizing business intelligence platforms and performance metrics.

$99,300.00 - $198,700.00
