Full Job Description
The Financing and Clearing Platform Principal for Futures and Derivatives Clearing is an expert-level professional responsible for independently driving revenue generation, ensuring Citi offers state-of-the-art platforms through direct technical and strategic contributions, and maximizing risk management through expert-level oversight and optimization. This role directly contributes to the company's financial success by ensuring our platform is at the forefront of innovation, efficiency, and client service, leveraging deep subject matter expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Contribution to Profit & Loss Drivers: Independently drives the strategic analysis and interpretation of FDC revenues, financing expenses, and other key business metrics to identify and proactively pursue significant opportunities for revenue enhancement. Expertly assesses complex trends in profitability and returns, and directly contributes to crafting and executing comprehensive growth plans in conjunction with senior sales and FDC leadership. Accountable for providing expert insights and recommendations for managing high-level business metrics and optimizing the overall revenue mix across broad segments.
  • Driving Innovation and Direct Development of Clearing Platform: Independently initiates, plans, and directly contributes to the prioritization of significant, strategic enhancements to platform capabilities that will open new opportunities and drastically improve efficiency across the business. Drives innovations through direct technical and strategic input to address emerging client demand and significant industry trends, directly enhancing business profitability, and strengthening the overall risk and controls framework and regulatory compliance posture. Leads the scoping and definition of complex, cross-functional requirements for functionality enhancements, and collaborates closely with large teams across technology and operations to deliver these. Serves as a primary subject matter expert and strategic advisor to all key stakeholders (legal, compliance, risk, etc.) on solution design, delivery, and strategic impact.
  • Regulatory and Industry Thought Leadership: Provides expert thought leadership and guidance on complex regulatory and industry changes that critically impact the business and clients, with a deep focus on global regulations affecting clearing activities. Proactively shapes business direction and strategy through direct analysis and recommendations to address material and anticipated developments. Acts as a primary, trusted advisor and subject matter expert to key clients and internal stakeholders, interpreting and communicating the strategic implications of regulatory changes.
  • Expert Risk and Control Design and Implementation: Independently establishes and champions a culture of vigilance over business processes to ensure uncompromising regulatory perfection and robust operational control across the platform. This includes providing expert oversight and guidance to operations and technology partners to guarantee the correct execution of critical regulatory functions, and proactively analyzes and controls systemic business risk around significant events (expiries, roll periods, settlements etc.) with a focus on enterprise-wide impact. Leads coordination and provides expert input to senior in-business Risk and credit teams on complex client activity, driving policy and strategic decisions through individual contribution.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in prime brokerage or futures and clearing, with a proven track record of directly contributing to and expertly driving significant, cross-functional initiatives and achieving substantial, measurable revenue growth or strategic impact.
  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong intellectual curiosity, advanced analytical, and conceptual thinking. Proven ability to independently leverage analytical tools and complex data to develop strategic insights, forecast market trends, and drive critical business decisions.
  • Profit & Loss and Financial Acumen: Extensive experience in directly optimizing business Profit & Loss and financial resource metrics, with a deep focus on optimizing business and market-related metrics. Comprehensive understanding of capital requirements, regulatory capital, and advanced financial accounting principles, applied through direct contribution.
  • Technical and Platform Build Experience: Driving complex programs of work and delivering positive business outcomes through direct and indirect leadership. A track record of working across commercial, operational and technical teams to define and make a compelling case for change.
  • Established Client Relationships: Established and influential client relationships, with a history of independently developing and executing solutions for complex client needs. Expert knowledge of client strategies, market dynamics, and key areas of focus for high-value clients.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence and drive strategic partnerships across the business including Quantitative analysts, Risk functions, leveraging deep subject matter expertise to develop and implement product capabilities that deliver significant business growth, optimize risk, and enhance overall platform performance.
  • Program and Initiative Expertise: Extensive experience in strategically planning, directly driving, and expertly delivering large-scale, complex programs and initiatives in conjunction with technology and operations, demonstrating strong program management and execution skills through individual contribution.
  • Regulatory & Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of current and emerging regulatory and industry requirements associated with financing and clearing product sets. Ability to anticipate future regulatory impacts and strategically position the business accordingly through expert analysis and recommendation.
  • Risk Management: Proven expertise in comprehensively assessing, mitigating, and controlling operational, market, and credit risk across complex financial products and systems through direct involvement and analysis.
  • Communication & Influence: Superior communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, and articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Series 3 with a preference for SIE, Series 7 and Series 63. Not a prerequisite, the successful candidate will hold the S3 within 120 days
