The Homepage is the first thing buyers see when they open the eBay app - a high-traffic, high-impact surface that drives engagement, personalization, and commerce at scale. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, backend, and platform partners on meaningful projects - from personalized recommendation modules to real-time commerce features and a modern modular architecture. What you will accomplish- Develop and deliver native Android features end-to-end - from technical development through coding, testing, deployment, and production support - demonstrating a deep dedication to ownership and quality.
- Contribute to architecture decisions that shape the Homepage Android experience and align with eBay's broader mobile platform strategy.
- Drive complex projects across multiple turning points, proactively identifying risks and working multi-functionally to keep delivery on track.
- Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code and build reviews, mentoring teammates, and contributing to team coding standards and guidelines.
- Find opportunities to improve engineering velocity through reusable components, tooling, and better patterns within the Android codebase.
- Share knowledge with the team and broader Android community to foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
What you will bring- 6+ years of professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin (and familiarity with Java).
- Deep proficiency in Jetpack Compose and the Android View system, with a strong grasp of when and how to apply each effectively.
- Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture) and modular app design at scale.
- Strong networking skills, including experience with GraphQL and RESTful APIs in a consumer Android context.
- Excellent decision-making skills - able to navigate ambiguity, weigh trade-offs, and drive sound technical choices with good judgment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and design.
- Experience in mentoring peers and contributing positively to team culture and engineering practices.
- High learning ability, dedicated with a growth mindset - eager to grow both technically and in cross-functional ways.
- Experience with dependency management tools such as Gradle, along with knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for mobile development.
Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$118,800 - $205,600
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
