License: Required certifications in BLS and as a Certified MRI Technologist - ARRT (MR)
Certifications: BLS, Certified MRI Technologist - ARRT (MR)
Must-Have:
- 1 year of MRI experience.
- Experience with Siemens equipment, Philips experience preferred.
- Level II trauma experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform IV starts is required.
Description:
The department operates with a total of 4 scanners.
Agency staff will cover 2 scanners.
A mobile unit is also available.
Floating to other areas is not required.
Common imaging types include musculoskeletal imaging, basic neuro, abdomen/pelvis, radiation oncology, and breast imaging.
The average number of scans/studies performed per day is around 30 due to longer protocols.
The department utilizes the PACS system.
Current systems in use are McKesson and Changed Health Care Meditech.
There is a full-time supervisor available during shifts.
A senior tech will be scheduled if a lead tech is unavailable.
Radiologists are in-house during daytime hours.
Most MRI readings are conducted remotely.
Weekend work is only required if the candidate is hired for weekend shifts.
Typically, 10-14 inpatients and 4-8 outpatients are processed on weekends.
Only outpatients without contrast are typically done on weekends.
There is no call or standby requirement, though volunteering to cover may be available.
Dress code requires black scrubs with a black or gray jacket and a black or gray undershirt.
Unit-specific orientation will last 1-2 weeks.
The charting system utilized is Meditech - 6.1.
