Job DescriptionSummaryUnder the supervision of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and scanners to produce detailed tissue images for medical diagnosis. Prepares pertinent information for physician and care team's review, and delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
Job Duties- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
- Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images, such as density contrast, definition and distortion.
- Maintains critical positioning of the patient and equipment during flow of the contrast media to ensure safety of the patient and success of examination results.
- Instructs patients on body positioning procedures during MRI exams and testing; demonstrates effective communications with all patients by explaining the MRI procedure both before and after scanning, and answers all patient questions.
- Determines equipment requirements for procedures based on the physician's tentative diagnoses, and scout films necessary for physician's preliminary viewing.
- Maintains MRI equipment by performing scheduled cleaning, testing and documenting results; notifies supervision of malfunctioning equipment.
- Implements MRI safety guidelines and conducts proper MRI safety during the imaging process.
- Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Specialized Diploma Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or
- High School Diploma/GED with AART certification
- Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques and applications, ability to utilize imaging technology on patients for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
- Knowledge of and ability to prepare patients for diagnostic/radiological imaging and to monitor patients' reactions during and after a procedure. Responds to emergent situations by applying appropriate measures.
- BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
Additional Qualifications- May require travel between Jefferson sites
Physical DemandsLift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Salary Range$35.20 to $50.16 Hourly
The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
