Position Description

The Materials, Planning, and Logistics (MP&L) Manager will lead the strategic direction and execution of materials management initiatives to ensure efficient and effective supply chain operations. This role requires an experienced professional with a proven track record in materials planning, inventory management, and team leadership. The MP&L Manager will work closely with the Plant Manager to optimize material flow, reduce costs, and support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution
  • Develop and implement comprehensive materials management strategies aligned with production and organizational goals.
  • Optimize material flow and inventory levels to support efficient production processes.
  • Lead the development of long-term strategic plans to enhance supply chain operations.


Leadership / Accountability
  • Provide leadership and direction to the materials planning team, including the Senior Material Planner and other Material Planners.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Set clear performance goals and metrics for the team, monitoring progress and providing feedback.


Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, production teams, and other departments.
  • Represent the materials management function at plant meetings and cross-functional discussions.


Inventory Management
  • Develop and manage inventory control processes to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
  • Monitor inventory performance and provide regular reports to the Plant Manager.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with inventory management.


Cost Reduction and Efficiency
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through effective materials management strategies.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve efficiency and reduce waste in the supply chain.
  • Monitor cost performance and adjust strategies as needed to ensure success.


Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field;
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certification strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Materials Control and/or Buyer experience working with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics (such as SAP or JDE).
  • 1+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively.
