Position Description

The MP&L (Materials Planning & Logistics) Manager is responsible for overseeing material planning, inventory management, logistics coordination, and supply chain execution to support operational efficiency and customer delivery performance. This role leads planning and logistics teams, manages inventory and material flow strategies, and ensures alignment between supply chain operations and business objectives. The position requires strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and the ability to drive operational performance in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage material planning, inventory control, logistics coordination, and material flow operations to support production and customer demand
  • Lead and develop MP&L personnel, including analysts, planners, and logistics staff, through coaching, training, and performance management
  • Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules, inventory targets, and operational requirements
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, material availability, freight costs, and on-time delivery
  • Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, production, logistics, and demand planning teams to ensure end-to-end supply chain alignment
  • Oversee inventory optimization initiatives to reduce excess inventory, minimize shortages, and improve inventory turns
  • Identify and resolve operational issues related to material shortages, supply disruptions, logistics delays, or planning constraints
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, process efficiency, and supply chain performance
  • Maintain accurate data and reporting within ERP and planning systems to support operational decision-making
  • Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and integrated business planning processes
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, inventory control standards, and operational policies
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning activities related to MP&L operations


Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field required
  • 5+ years of experience in material planning, logistics, inventory management, supply chain, or operations management
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, logistics operations, and material planning processes
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel/data analysis skills
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational execution in a dynamic environment
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or distribution operations preferred
  • Familiarity with S&OP or integrated business planning processes preferred
