THE POSITION

As a Motor Vehicle Program Supervisor 3 with the Department of Transportation, you will lead key operations that support safety and integrity within vehicle inspection programs. This position offers the chance to work with staff, contractors, and industry partners across the Commonwealth. You will help improve processes, review reports, and guide important policy decisions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports statewide vehicle inspection operations by overseeing field activities, reviewing violation reports, and guiding program improvements. It involves coordinating audits, supporting staff, and communicating with partners throughout the Commonwealth. As a Motor Vehicle Program Supervisor 3, you will perform the following duties:
  • Program Oversight: Manage statewide safety and emissions inspection activities, including audits of safety and emissions inspection stations and investigations of consumer complaints related to inspection activities.
  • Violation Review: Evaluate investigation reports and determine appropriate sanctions for inspection program violations
  • Training Guidance: Review and provide input on certification training materials and program updates. Develops and coordinates at least one Quality Assurance Officer Training Conference per year.
  • Data Management: Support the maintenance of inspection databases and verify accuracy of certification information
  • Procedure Development: Establish and update procedures for staff to support consistent and effective operations
  • Board Coordination: Coordinate activities of the Inspection Advisory Board, including meetings, agendas, and communication with partners

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Four years of experience in progressively responsible and varied line management or administrative staff work in a public or private organization, including two years with a state motor vehicles program, an automobile service organization, motor vehicle manufacturer, or other comparable organization associated with the automobile industry which provided experience in the application and interpretation of state motor vehicle laws; and such training as may have been gained from graduation from a four-year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
