Work Shifts9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.MDuties & ResponsibilitiesPurpose of Position
Under the direction of the Deputy or Assistant Inspector General or Assistant Director, with considerable latitude for independent judgment and initiative, applies a comprehensive knowledge of investigative principles, practices and procedures to supervise the performance of confidential investigators in a unit within an Inspector General's Office.
Examples of Typical Tasks :
1. Plans, organizes and coordinates investigation schedules and assignments, policies and procedures for guidelines of the investigating staff.
2. Advises subordinates on difficult matters and interprets rules, regulations, policies and procedures for guidance of the investigative staff.
3. Manages a unit's case load and serves as a case consultant in the investigation of difficult cases; reviews subordinate's cases and reports, prepares reports and recommendations for appropriate action to be taken.
4. Develops security plans, develops corruption prevention and control programs. Conducts training in investigative techniques, corruption deterrence, detection and control.
5. May perform highly sensitive and complex investigations requiring a high degree of specialization and/or technical expertise.
6. May perform handwriting analysis.
7. May work in close coordination with Federal, State and City investigation and law enforcement agencies.
8. Performs related tasks as required.
Minimum QualificationsA Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security or inspections in a major operations area of the organization, at least one year of which shall have been in a responsible supervisory capacity; or,
2. Graduation from a senior high school and seven years of satisfactory full-time paid experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, inspections (in a major operational area of the organization), of which two years must have been in a field assignment, at least one year of which shall have been in a responsible supervisory capacity; or,
3. A satisfactory equivalent.
