Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborn infants.
- Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments and document findings accurately.
- Monitor patients for complications and communicate changes in condition to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed.
- Support breastfeeding and provide lactation education and assistance.
- Educate patients and families regarding postpartum recovery, newborn care, safe sleep practices, feeding, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, lactation consultants, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
- Promote patient safety and infection prevention practices.
- Respond appropriately to maternal and neonatal emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental activities.
- Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families.
QualificationsEducation- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Licensure & Certification- Current New York State Registered Nurse license required.
- Current BLS Certification required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred or required within designated time frame.
- ACLS certification preferred.
Experience- Previous Mother-Baby, Postpartum, Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, or Women's Health experience preferred.
- New graduates may be considered based on organizational requirements.
