Mortgage Underwriting and Operations Supervisor

Position Overview
DCCU is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriting and Operations Supervisor to support the leadership of the Mortgage team. As the first line of supervision of the mortgage underwriting and operation functions, this position will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant credit decisions that support the organization's lending objectives as well as the loan processing, closing, funding, post-closing, and servicing functions. This position supports leadership of the underwriting and processing teams which includes establishing underwriting standards and procedures, monitor loan quality, ensure that residential mortgage loans are processed efficiently, underwritten consistently, closed accurately, and delivered in compliance with all investor, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

The Mortgage Underwriting and Operations Supervisor works closely with Sales, Secondary Marketing, Compliance, Quality Control, and Executive Management to promote a culture of sound risk management, exceptional member service, and operational excellence to ensure efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and consistent application of underwriting guidelines.

What You'll have the Opportunity to do:

  • Be responsible for monitoring the loan operations pipeline.
  • Provide support in all areas of the mortgage process as needed; Underwriting, Processing, Closing, Funding and Post-Closing, and Servicing.
  • Partner with Sales, Pricing, and Compliance teams to ensure loans are closed on time, members are satisfied, and loan quality is strong.
  • Research, quantify, and analyze problem incidents such as member issues, quality defects, and process inefficiencies and resolve issues timely.
  • Monitor processes for engagement, efficiency and effectiveness, provide leadership with recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and training for the Mortgage operations team.


What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's Degree or three years equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Five or more years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
  • Extensive experience underwriting Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and portfolio mortgage loans.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, disclosure, closing and funding procedures.
  • Ability to work with confidential files and/or materials.
  • Ability to research, quantify, and analyze problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending laws and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and schedule the department's workflow.
  • Experience with an electronic Loan Origination System (LOS) is required, Encompass experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

DuPont Community Credit Union offers a competitive starting hourly range of $35.52 - $41.78 in addition to an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, pension plan, 401k with employer match, and generous paid time off. Starting salary placement in the range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills.
