Full Job Description
Moon Base Future Habitations Lead will shape the next generation of habitation modules for the Moon Base. This person will lead a team responsible for driving early architecture development, reducing technical/programmatic risk, and ensuring readiness for future long duration crewed missions. The individual will play a central role in preparing the systems, trades, and procurement groundwork that will enable a robust, extensible Habitation architecture for the lunar surface.

Work Model
  • This is a full-time position based at NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas with an expectation of at least 4 days onsite per week.


What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading planning and execution to meet cost, schedule, and performance commitments for the Future Habitations portfolio
  • Overseeing strategic planning for future habitation capabilities and risk reduction initiatives
  • Ensuring effective collaboration with architecture, logistics, operations, systems engineering, and external partner organizations
  • Providing integration leadership across Habitation elements to ensure consistent and coordinated technical performance
  • Leading and resolving technical issues across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Implementing risk identification, mitigation planning, and ongoing risk management for future habitation modules
  • Performing architecture level analysis, system trades, and functional allocation development


What You Need to be Successful

Senior Project Engineer - Technical Project Manager

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or another related STEM discipline
  • At least 10 years of technical strategy, analysis, and risk-reduction experience in highly complex human space flight systems
  • A record of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Superior analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels
  • Proven expertise and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and provide direction on competing priorities
  • Proven ability to make timely, informed decisions and resolve conflicts in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent teaming and leadership skills with an ability to multi-task across various issues/disciplines simultaneously
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Real-time human space flight operations experience
  • Ten years of experience with NASA Programs

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
