Responsibilities
- Architect enterprise-wide observability solutions using platforms like Splunk, New Relic, or SolarWinds.
- Design "Proactive Mission Assurance" dashboards and alerting frameworks for high-visibility federal missions.
- Technical implementation of automated remediation workflows triggered by observability events.
- Lead the integration of logging and monitoring across on-premises data centers and GovCloud environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to align monitoring strategies with NIST 800-53 continuous monitoring controls.
- Define standards for application tracing, log aggregation, and real-time metric collection.
- Provide technical oversight for the implementation of AIOps and advanced analytics within monitoring tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems engineering.
- 5+ years of experience designing enterprise-level monitoring or observability solutions.
- Deep expertise in data visualization, log management, and system performance metrics.
Preferred Certifications
- Federal & Security: CISSP.
- Domain-Specific: Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect or New Relic Certified Observability Practitioner.
- Architecture/Management: TOGAF or AWS Solutions Architect Professional.
Technical Skills
- Monitoring Tools: Splunk, New Relic, SolarWinds, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Logging: ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Fluentd.
- Tracing: Jaeger, Honeycomb, AWS X-Ray.
- Scripting: Python, Go, PowerShell for custom monitoring plugins.
Regulatory & Domain Expertise
- Demonstrated expertise in applying NIST 800-53 continuous monitoring (CA) controls.
- Technical implementation of FedRAMP Moderate/High security baselines for SaaS monitoring tools.
- Experience with the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) standards.
Clearance Requirement
- Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) or eligibility to obtain one.
